When are Barcelona’s Gràcia Festivities?

Every summer, without fail, the streets of Gràcia dawn unrecognisable: one may be a jungle, another a castle, another an underwater world. It is all the work of the residents, who spend months working in secret to create spectacular decorations and compete in the famous street competition. There is no fixed stage: the entire neighbourhood is the festival. Between street processions, improvised concerts, outdoor meals and gunpowder rituals, visitors do not stroll; they immerse themselves. This is not an event to be observed; it is one to be experienced from within. Those who arrive out of curiosity usually return out of love.
