Intervention at Litoral beach to clean up and curb shanty towns before summer

The operation focused on dismantling several recently erected tents and removing mattresses, rubbish and objects piled up beside the makeshift dwellings. The preventive action seeks to prevent the settlement from expanding at a key time, just before the number of beachgoers increases.

The City Council is keeping watch over the more established structures and is already preparing a broader intervention in the coming weeks. In the meantime, police pressure will continue to prevent new occupations in the recently cleared spaces.

The situation has caused concern among residents and regular users of this stretch of coast, which connects with other heavily frequented spots such as the Besòs area and the beaches of the metropolitan area. Cleaning up and reclaiming the space are seen as a necessary step to ensure coexistence.
