Roman parade in Montjuïc for the arrival of “The Last Days of Pompeii”
Barcelona will see an unusual scene this Thursday: more than 50 Roman soldiers will parade in Montjuïc to inaugurate the exhibition “The Last Days of Pompeii”, opening to the public on Friday at IDEAL Barcelona.
The parade, scheduled for 20:00, will go around the esplanade in front of the venue with the Banyoles manaies maniple, combining local tradition and historical atmosphere in a show open to the public. The exhibition proposes a journey to Pompeii in AD 79 with 360° projections, surround sound and virtual-reality experiences. Visitors will be able to explore spaces such as the Villa of the Mysteries or attend gladiator combats from within, before experiencing the multisensory recreation of the eruption of Vesuvius. The exhibition arrives supported by international awards including “Best Exhibition 2024” by National Geographic, consolidating the immersive format as one of the major cultural trends. Tickets are already on sale online from around €9.50 to €18.50, and booking in advance is recommended to secure a place on the desired date.
