The Albanian coast is positioning itself as the European option for those dreaming of the Maldives. Beaches with crystal-clear water, unspoilt nature and direct flights from Barcelona at very competitive prices make it the favourite for 2026.

The Holidayguru report also notes that, given the political situation in the United States, many prefer to swap New York for Chinese cities such as Shanghai, Shenzhen or Chongqing. These metropolises offer futuristic architecture, nightlife and a vibrant cultural scene.

Paris, traditionally one of the most desired destinations, is losing ground to Budapest. The Hungarian capital wins people over with its elegance, iconic bridges and a rich cultural offering, but one that is much more affordable for the wallet.

Nationally, the Andalusian coast is losing prominence to the Canary Islands. Holidayguru highlights their balance of costs, broad hotel offering and lower seasonal pressure, which makes it possible to travel at any time of year.

Finally, Montenegro is emerging as an alternative to Croatia. With direct flights from Barcelona and spectacular coastal landscapes, this country surprises with medieval cities such as Kotor and a Mediterranean atmosphere still little exploited by mass tourism.
