Diagonal Mar opens every Sunday and public holiday this summer in Barcelona

The measure makes the space another option for people looking for relaxed weekend plans without leaving Barcelona. A few minutes from the beach and connected to the seafront, Diagonal Mar reinforces its commitment to combining shopping, dining and leisure in one place, especially in the months when city life is spent more outdoors.

More than 170 shops will remain open on these Sundays, alongside terraces, cafés and restaurants that usually account for much of the atmosphere on summer afternoons. The centre aims to position itself not only as a shopping space, but also as a meeting point for families, groups of friends and tourists looking for convenient plans near the sea.

Among this season’s new additions is the recent opening of TK Maxx, a store of more than 2,000 square metres specialising in fashion, homeware and beauty with permanent discounts. Its arrival further expands the complex’s retail offer at a time of strong competition among Barcelona’s major shopping centres.

Another incentive will be three hours of free parking, a measure designed to make longer visits easier and attract people travelling from other neighbourhoods or municipalities in the metropolitan area.

In summer, the Diagonal Mar area changes considerably from the rest of the year. The proximity of the beach, hotels and seafront means that the surroundings become busier well into the night, especially at weekends and on public holidays. The shopping centre has gradually adapted to that rhythm, strengthening its dining, leisure and outdoor spaces to make a visit more than just an afternoon of shopping.
