City Council’s special operation for Sant Joan night
Barcelona City Council will activate a wide operation to ensure a safe, civic Sant Joan eve. The operation coordinates all municipal services and pays particular attention to areas with the greatest crowds, such as the beaches, which will remain open all night.
The Urban Guard will deploy checks to prevent incidents and strengthen surveillance in spaces at risk of unauthorised fires, especially in Parc de Collserola. Alcohol and drug checks will be increased, and mobility may be restricted in specific areas to prevent crowds.
Civil Protection and Barcelona Fire Brigade will increase staffing, giving priority attention to forest areas and monitoring the use of pyrotechnics. Four large bonfires have also been authorised and the safety of 123 firecracker sales points has been validated.
Night-time Purple Points on the beaches are being reinforced to prevent sexist and LGBTI-phobic violence, and the Urban Guard will expand safe routes.
The beach operation includes access checks, surveillance against unauthorised parties, reinforced cleaning with more than 350 workers, health services and 291 portable toilets. Public transport will provide a special service, with the metro, TRAM and Nitbus operating without interruption.
The aim is a responsible and safe celebration for everyone.
