DondeGo launches its public API discovery layer for events, places and news in Barcelona and Madrid

DondeGo has just taken an important step in its evolution as a local platform for events, places and cultural news: we have published a new public discovery layer for our API.

The objective is clear: local information about Barcelona and Madrid should not live only as web pages, but should also be understandable to developers, documentation tools, digital products, newsletters, media outlets, editorial integrations and artificial-intelligence assistants.

In other words: we are making DondeGo easier to discover, integrate and use responsibly.

This new public layer includes several technical resources already available:

The first public version is deliberately conservative. We have documented only endpoint families that have already been verified and that we can describe clearly: locations, events, event detail, places, place detail, news, news detail, events of the day and mixed search.

This matters. We did not want to publish an inflated specification, promise features that are not ready yet, or pretend compatibility with technologies DondeGo does not yet offer. We prefer to build a solid, clear and honest foundation.

DondeGo's API discovery layer is intended for several kinds of projects:

- local guides that want to integrate events and places

- cultural newsletters that need to enrich their content

- tourism products focused on Barcelona and Madrid

- maps, calendars and leisure applications

- media outlets and editorial projects

- AI assistants that need a structured local source

- developers who want to explore cultural data with OpenAPI or Postman

We have also included usage examples for curl, Python and Node, as well as a Postman collection ready to import.

But this publication is not only about technology. It is also about trust, attribution and respect for the original source.

That is why we maintain a very clear rule: any website, app, newsletter, bot, AI assistant or third-party integration that displays event descriptions or substantial DondeGo data must include a visible link to the event's canonical page on DondeGo.es as the source.

This rule protects editorial context, makes verification easier for users and helps build a healthier data ecosystem. If someone discovers an event through an integration, they must be able to reach the original page on DondeGo easily.

For events, the technical recommendation is to use a “detail-first” flow: first query the event list, then obtain the event detail and finally use the EventDetail.site_url field as a visible link to DondeGo.

We have also published resources aimed at AI tools, such as llms.txt and an Agent Skills index based only on documentation. There are no hidden scripts, no code execution, no special access and no magic permissions. The goal is simply to explain to assistants how to discover and cite DondeGo's public API correctly.

We believe infrastructure of this kind will become increasingly important. Local, cultural and editorial projects should not be left out of the new ecosystem of tools, agents and assistants. But neither should they lose control over attribution, information quality or the link to the original source.

DondeGo wants to be at that point of balance: open to integrations, useful to developers and AI assistants, but with a clear, verifiable foundation that respects editorial work.
