Two burgers from Madrid aim to win over the nation’s palate in the grand final

Madrid has two contenders in the final of the VI Campeonato a Mejor Hamburguesa de España. The event will take place on 10 March and is setting trends on the local gastronomic calendar. Find out which venues are representing the city and why it matters.

Madrid’s gastronomic scene is once again taking centre stage on the national map with the arrival of the final of the 6th Best Burger in Spain Championship. This year, two burger restaurants from the region have made it into the fifteen finalists, after a selection that combined customer votes with the assessment of more than 180 inspectors. The event, scheduled for 10 March, promises to set the pace for the coming weeks for those looking for new flavours and different plans in the city.

El Vikingo, in Villaviciosa de Odón, returns to the competition with its “Esenzia” offering: a dry-aged beef burger with hornkäse cheese, smoked bacon and bacon sauce. This venue, known for its speciality in grilled food and beers, has already earned a place among the must-visits for burger lovers in south-west Madrid.

The other entry comes from the heart of Chamberí. Nolita, newly opened on Calle Ponzano, has impressed with a recipe combining a pretzel bun, PDO Gruyère cheese, champagne, wholegrain mustard, piparra pepper, onion, butter and aged rib steak from Carnicas Lyo. A combination designed for those seeking something different and closely following the capital’s latest openings.

Both offerings will compete in a blind tasting before a professional jury at an event that gains more prominence every year on Madrid’s foodie calendar. Whatever the result, the two venues are already part of the essential route for those who enjoy exploring the city through its gastronomy.

Puerto del Escondite, in Boadilla del Monte, will be the setting for the final. This restaurant, known for its carefully maintained surroundings and commitment to quality cooking, has established itself as a meeting point for leading gastronomic events. Its atmosphere, halfway between urban and natural, reflects the new pulse of Madrid’s restaurant scene: spaces that invite visitors to stay and discover, beyond the food, a complete experience. Madrid is already beginning to move in that direction.
