Bernabéu appears on Google Maps as “Tchouaméni Knockout” and sparks jokes

The change did not always affect the main search result. According to the screenshots circulated, searching for the stadium still showed it as Santiago Bernabéu, but zooming in on the map changed the name to those altered labels. The issue remained uncorrected for several hours, long enough for the joke to spread among supporters of different teams.

The reference to Tchouaméni is no coincidence. The name “Tchouaméni's Knockout” alludes to the fight between Fede Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni that has shaped part of the conversation around the white team's dressing room this season. In a context of sporting and institutional tension, any nod to that episode quickly becomes fuel for memes.

The other label, “Barça's training ground”, points directly to the rivalry most sensitive for Real Madrid supporters. After a difficult season for Real Madrid, with Barcelona celebrating titles and enjoying a moment of euphoria, the joke struck a particularly uncomfortable chord for many white-shirted fans.

Although this is not a complex cyberattack, these changes are usually caused by collaborative edits or user suggestions in map services. Google normally reviews and corrects these kinds of alterations when it detects that they affect public or highly visible places.

The episode comes in an already busy week for those around the Bernabéu. Between the debate over concerts, criticism from supporters and sporting doubts, the stadium has become more than a football venue: it is one of the major stages on which Real Madrid's current tensions are projected.

In Madrid, this kind of digital anecdote has a short life but a long social reach.
