The youth culture voucher is reinvented: €400 for art, instruments and training from 2025

From 2025, the €400 received by people when they turn 18 will not only open the door to books, cinema or concerts: it may also be spent on musical instruments, art materials and creative courses, in person or online.

To make this happen, the current royal decree, which has until now excluded these items, will be amended. The challenge, according to ministry sources, is to define precisely what counts as ‘art materials’ in order to prevent improper use: brushes and canvases, yes; mobile phones and electronic devices, no.

The measure also seeks to reach more young people from vulnerable families, with the help of social organisations that will make access to the aid easier.

With this extension, the cultural voucher seeks a double impact: bringing artistic creation closer to young people and, at the same time, boosting the cultural and educational sector, from fine-art shops to music and painting teachers.
