The heat offers no respite: this is Madrid's weather this weekend
Heat will remain the main feature this weekend in Madrid. Forecasts point to two very stable days, with little cloud or clear skies, highs close to 37 degrees and no rain, a scenario that will again shape outdoor plans.
Saturday 8 August will begin with mild temperatures, although the atmosphere will warm up quickly as the morning progresses. During the middle of the day, thermometers will once again easily exceed 35 degrees, while the wind will be light and provide hardly any relief from the heat.
On Sunday, the outlook will change very little. Another sunny day is expected, with values similar to or slightly higher than Saturday’s and highs around 36 or 37 degrees. The chance of rain will remain virtually nil, so stable weather will continue to dominate across the region.
The nights will offer little respite either. Minimum temperatures will remain above 22 degrees in many parts of the capital, bringing another run of tropical nights that will make it difficult to cool homes and get to sleep, especially in the more built-up areas.
In these conditions, experts recommend avoiding sun exposure during the middle of the day, staying well hydrated and seeking shaded or air-conditioned spaces when undertaking outdoor activities. It is also advisable to pay particular attention to children, older people and those with chronic illnesses, the groups most sensitive to high temperatures.
Everything points to the heat continuing to accompany Madrid over the coming days. Those taking advantage of the weekend to enjoy parks, terraces or swimming pools will find fully summery conditions, although it will be necessary to adjust schedules to avoid the hours of greatest heat intensity and cope with an episode that keeps summer at its most demanding.
