The heat intensifies again in Madrid this weekend, but without reaching extremes
Madrid has a fully summery weekend ahead, but one much more bearable than this August’s episodes of extreme heat. On Saturday 22 and Sunday 23, sunshine and mostly clear skies will dominate, with no rain forecast and maximum temperatures around 33 degrees.
The sky will remain clear or with few clouds for virtually the whole day, and the probability of precipitation will be nil. It will be a favourable day for terraces, swimming pools and outdoor plans, although from early afternoon until the start of the night it will still be advisable to seek shade and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.
The picture will change little on Sunday. The minimum will be around 20 degrees and the maximum will again remain close to 33. There will be somewhat more cloud at some times, but no rain is expected either, so those with plans in El Retiro, Madrid Río, Casa de Campo or municipal swimming pools should not encounter any major weather surprises.
The nights will be one of the main sources of relief. After days when Madrid was barely able to cool down as the sun set, values close to 19 or 20 degrees will make it possible to air homes more effectively and sleep at temperatures that are considerably more comfortable than during the harshest August nights.
Winds will generally be light or moderate, with no notable adverse phenomena. No weather warnings are forecast for the city of Madrid over the weekend either, so the heat will be the main factor to bear in mind, especially during the middle hours of the day.
The most obvious change will arrive immediately afterwards. On Monday the 24th, the maximum will fall to around 28 degrees and the following days will maintain a cooler atmosphere, with minimums that could gradually drop towards 16 or 17. The weekend thus offers one last dose of high summer before Madrid begins to notice a much clearer fall in temperature.
