The bell tower of Sant Romà is almost hidden in the waters of the Sau reservoir
The iconic Sau reservoir is making headlines again. Despite recent rainfall, the water level has not managed to completely cover the church of Sant Romà, whose bell tower remains visible and is reflected on the surface.
At present, the reservoir is at 65% of its capacity, a figure that stands in contrast to the images of extreme drought seen in recent years.
According to official data from 3 August, the overall capacity of Catalonia’s internal reservoirs is at 76.82%. The Sau reservoir, one of the country’s most iconic, has become a visual indicator of the region’s water situation.
The bell tower, now a symbol of both scarcity and the recovery of reserves, continues to attract visitors and photographers. Its reflection in the water highlights the duality between the beauty of the landscape and the fragility of water resources in Catalonia.
Authorities stress that, although levels have improved, it is essential to maintain responsible consumption to ensure the stability of reserves over the coming months.
