The Casal de Joves de Can Ricart, in Poblenou, has just inaugurated its new adjoining building after restoration works were completed in December. The extension, which involved an investment of 972,000 euros —35,000 more than expected— adds 631 m² across two floors and a pitched roof.
The aim of this new space is to offer young people more opportunities to promote community projects and host new initiatives from educational-leisure organisations. The intervention has been carried out with particular attention to energy efficiency, seeking to reduce the facility’s environmental impact.
Inside, the building has an access and reception area that connects directly with the main casal building, after the party walls separating them were demolished. It also has storage, facilities, workrooms and multipurpose spaces for activities and workshops.
