Casino l’Aliança del Poblenou is making another move in its cultural programme with a new cinema event in the heart of the neighbourhood. The organisation, located at Rambla del Poblenou, 42, has included a session from the Cinema al Poblenou series in the 2026 Festa Major del Poblenou programme, scheduled for Tuesday 15 September at 19:00.

This is not the opening of a new commercial cinema nor a reopening announced as a major premiere. The reading is more interesting for the neighbourhood: the Casino keeps cinema as a living strand within a programme that combines music, theatre, dancing, popular culture and community activities.

Neighbourhood cinema with a post-screening discussion

The session announced for the Festa Major will follow the usual Cinema al Poblenou format: screening a short film, a feature film and a subsequent film discussion with professionals connected to the work or its subject. The film has yet to be confirmed, according to information published by the organisation. General admission will be 5 euros and sales will open shortly.

That detail matters. Poblenou has a long relationship with cinema. Arxiu Històric del Poblenou recalls that the neighbourhood had several cinemas during the 20th century and that Aliança itself had a cinema between 1923 and 1963.
