Sol will not allow entry or exit this afternoon: how it affects transport in Madrid
Getting around central Madrid this afternoon will be more difficult than usual. Sol station will close its entrances from 17:30 to prevent crowds during the Holy Week processions, at one of the city's busiest times.
From 17:10, it will no longer be possible to enter or leave the street from the station. The measure affects both Metro and Cercanías, and requires those travelling through the area to seek alternatives for getting around the city centre.
Cercanías trains on lines C-3 and C-4 will not stop at Sol during that interval. On the Metro, interchanges between lines will remain open, but without access to the outside, which limits their usual use.
The closure coincides with several processions passing through key points such as Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and the area around the Palacio Real. The concentration of people in these areas makes it necessary to restrict access in order to guarantee safety.
For those who had planned to pass through the city centre, the recommendation is to plan routes in advance and use nearby stations. On days like this, small changes to transport can significantly alter journeys.
