Cinema under the stars returns to Montjuïc with 16 nights of films, concerts and gastronomy
Summer in Barcelona brings back one of its most anticipated plans. Sala Montjuïc once again fills Castell de Montjuïc with life through a programme combining open-air cinema, concerts and gastronomy in a unique setting. Over 16 nights between July and August, the city swaps the sofa for the grass and small screens for a large projection under the stars.
The programme begins on 10 July with Flores para Antonio and will close on 5 August with a surprise film. In between, titles such as Los domingos, Sirat and Una batalla tras otra stand out in a selection combining recent releases and classics. Screenings start at 22:00, but the experience begins earlier: from 20:45, themed concerts set the mood with styles ranging from rumba to electronic music.
The format retains its essence: a relaxed open-air plan with privileged views over the city. Tickets are already available, priced from 9 euros without a deckchair and 12 euros with a deckchair, plus booking fees. Carnet Jove users receive a discount, reinforcing the appeal for a young audience.
The full line-up includes 16 sessions: Flores para Antonio (10/07), Marty Supreme (11/07), Los domingos (13/07), Hamnet (15/07), Sirat (17/07), Una batalla tras otra (18/07), Tres adioses (20/07), Bugonia (22/07), Fargo (24/07), La grazia (25/07), Thelma & Louise (27/07), El agente secreto (29/07), Los pecadores (31/07), Valor sentimental (01/08), The Royal Tenenbaums (03/08) and the surprise closing on 5 August.
Since its creation in 2003, Sala Montjuïc has established itself as one of the most recognisable events of the Barcelona summer, drawing inspiration from European open-air cinemas while adapting to the local character.
This type of proposal redefines how culture is experienced in the city during the warmest months. It is not just about watching a film, but about turning the night into a social experience, where music, landscape and cinema mix and transform Barcelona's urban rhythm.
