Phenomena cinema auctions its history: seats, posters and iconic objects go on sale
Barcelona’s legendary Phenomena cinema, closed since September for renovation works, has decided to open its doors one last time… but this time, to sell its treasures.
The emblematic venue, known for its cult screenings and retro aesthetic, is auctioning off part of its furniture and original objects, many of which have already become collectors' items.
The lots include carpets inspired by Stanley Kubrick's «The Shining», the red armchairs in the foyer, exclusive posters of great classics, speakers, lamps and even the cinema's original doors. All these elements formed part of Phenomena's distinctive atmosphere, considered one of the temples of the seventh art in the city.
The aim of the sale, its managers explain, is to give a second life to the objects that accompanied thousands of film lovers for more than a decade. Part of the funds raised will go towards the restoration and modernisation of the venue, which will reopen in 2026 with a renewed image that remains faithful to its original spirit.
In this way, cinema fans will be able to take home a tangible piece of a cinema that defined an era, while Phenomena prepares for its major return to Barcelona's cultural scene.
