Phenomena cinema auctions its history: seats, posters and iconic objects go on sale
The legendary Phenomena cinema in Barcelona, closed since September for renovation works, has decided to open its doors one last time… but this time, to sell its treasures.
The iconic venue, known for its cult screenings and retro aesthetic, is auctioning part of its furniture and original objects, many of which have already become collectors’ items.
Among the lots are carpets inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s «The Shining», the red seats in the foyer, exclusive posters of great classics, loudspeakers, lamps and even the cinema’s original doors. All these elements formed part of Phenomena’s unmistakable atmosphere, considered one of the city’s temples of the seventh art.
Those responsible for the sale explain that its aim is to give a second life to objects that accompanied thousands of film lovers for more than a decade. Part of the funds raised will go towards refurbishing and modernising the venue, which will reopen in 2026 with a renewed image that remains faithful to its original spirit.
In this way, cinema fans will be able to take home a tangible piece of a venue that defined an era, while Phenomena prepares for its grand return to Barcelona’s cultural scene.
