Pedralbes cloister opens at night with a free experience

The proposal forms part of the celebration of the monastery's seven centuries and offers an unstructured visit through one of Barcelona's most distinctive Gothic spaces. For two hours, the usual lighting will give way to projections and soundscapes designed to transform the perception of the cloister.

The intervention works with three elements that are highly present on the site: architecture, nature and water. Arches, columns, capitals, cypresses and fountains will change in appearance as the walk progresses, without concealing the building's historic structure.

The route will activate twelve heritage points connected to the history and symbolism of the monastery. There will be no fixed route, so each visitor will be able to move through the galleries at their own pace and stop at the corners that draw their attention most.

One of the central moments will come when light travels across the entire cloister simultaneously. The galleries, garden and fountains will be linked by the same visual sequence, accompanied by natural sounds and an experimental composition.

Only the cloister will be open during these three nights. The exhibition rooms and medieval kitchen garden will not be part of the visit, a detail worth bearing in mind before coming to the site.

Entry will be free and no invitation will be required, although access will depend on available capacity. The nighttime slot also makes it possible to avoid the hottest hours and experience the monastery from an unusual perspective.

Night gives Pedralbes a different image: Gothic stone, reflections on water and a discreetly illuminated garden. Over three days, one of Barcelona's most serene spaces will exchange its everyday silence for a visual experience open to the whole city.
