Congress opens its doors: two days of free access to the heart of Spanish politics
Palacio de la Carrera de San Jerónimo will open its doors for two days in December, changing from a closed institution into an exceptional space where everyone can glimpse the country's political ‘heart’.
The Congress of Deputies is preparing for its annual open days: on 12 and 13 December, people from Madrid and visitors to the capital will be able to enter the Palace on Carrera de San Jerónimo free of charge, by prior appointment. During these two days, Parliament will operate under a special timetable, from 9:30 to 19:00 without interruption, and will open access to its most emblematic chambers and spaces.
The initiative is dedicated to Constitution Day and aims to bring the work of the legislative branch closer to citizens. Visitors will be able to tour the most important chambers, the historic galleries and rooms that are normally inaccessible. Visits take place in groups and are accompanied by brief explanations of how Parliament works and of the building's history.
For those unable to attend in person, a virtual visit with 360° panoramic views and detailed information material is available.
The open days have long become a Madrid December tradition, allowing thousands of people to discover from within one of the key institutions of Spanish democracy.
