The FGC closure in Barcelona will force route changes for 13 days
Transport in Barcelona's upper area will change this August with the FGC closure between Gràcia and Sarrià for 13 days. The disruption will force people to reorganise their usual journeys along a key corridor linking neighbourhoods such as Sant Gervasi and La Bonanova.
The closure, scheduled from 11 to 23 August, is due to track renewal works. The aim is to improve service reliability and prevent incidents on a line that is heavily used both within the city and towards Vallès.
To maintain mobility, a replacement bus service will operate along the entire affected section. These buses will be coordinated with the usual train timetables, although journeys will take longer.
The impact will be felt especially at stations with high daily usage, where switching from train to bus may disrupt routines. Areas such as Muntaner or around Sarrià will see some of the main adjustments.
Although August usually sees lower demand, the closure coincides with summer travel and ongoing activity in the city, which could lead to periods of crowding at certain times.
For those who use FGC daily, it is recommended to plan routes in advance and allow extra time, during a period when the network is being adapted to improve its long-term operation.
