Line 6 is disrupted by rain, complicating daily journeys
Mobility in Madrid starts the day with complications after a partial closure on Metro de Madrid's Line 6. Service remains suspended between Oporto and Laguna due to an incident linked to recent rainfall.
The problem is located at Carpetana station, where elements of the suspended ceiling are being inspected for safety reasons. The incident, which was expected to be temporary, has dragged on and affected thousands of passengers during rush hour.
To maintain the connection, a special bus service has been activated between Laguna y Plaza Elíptica, in addition to reinforced EMT lines. Even so, delays and crowding have been recorded at various points along the route.
Line 6, one of the key arteries of urban transport, carries a large share of daily journeys. Any interruption has an immediate impact on travel times and the organisation of the day.
The incident once again puts the focus on adapting infrastructure to weather events.
If you use Line 6 or nearby connections, you are likely to have to adjust your routes and travel times. There may also be more pressure on buses and other Metro lines. In the short term, it is advisable to plan alternatives and leave with time to spare.
