The Flic 2026 festival turns Barcelona into a playground of words and creativity

Barcelona is preparing to host one of the year’s most stimulating cultural events: Flic 2026. This festival turns the city into a space where literature and creativity are experienced with families and in classrooms, inviting the youngest children to discover the pleasure of playing with words.

Flic Famílies arrives at Disseny Hub Barcelona on 14 and 15 March, with activities designed for children and adults to experience together the magic of books and imagination. The festival will also stop in Ribes de Freser on 3 April, extending its reach beyond the urban centre.

But the proposal goes far beyond family leisure. Flic Escuela has taken Year 5 pupils from Escola Segre to Fabra i Coats, a former industrial complex transformed into a benchmark for contemporary art. There, students have taken part in a poetry day where play and fantasy have been the protagonists, discovering new ways to read and write without fear of making mistakes.

The most eagerly awaited moment was the meeting with the poet Olga Colomer, who shared with the children the secrets of her everyday life as an author and revealed how writing can become a personal adventure. These initiatives seek to spread enthusiasm for reading and help young people express themselves with freedom and creativity.

Fabra i Coats, where some of the Flic activities are held, is an emblematic space in Sant Andreu that has reinvented itself after its industrial past. Today it hosts leading cultural projects and has established itself as a meeting point for those seeking innovative artistic experiences in Barcelona. Its transformation has helped to energise the neighbourhood and bring contemporary culture closer to audiences of all ages.
