Godó 2026 revolutionises Barcelona: more spectators, a chill-out zone and night tennis

The 2026 Trofeo Conde de Godó brings unprecedented changes. Greater capacity, a new chill-out area and the first night match. Barcelona will experience a historic edition. The construction work will affect mobility on several streets.

Barcelona is preparing for an edition of the Trofeo Conde de Godó that promises to transform the experience of tennis fans and urban life in the upper part of the city. The tournament, which starts on 11 April, not only expands capacity to 9,061 spectators, but introduces new features that will change the routines of those who live or travel near the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona.

Construction of the venue, scheduled between 3 March and 11 April, will entail traffic closures on key streets such as Marquès de Mulhacén, Bosch i Gimpera and Cardenal Vives i Tutó. Residents and drivers will have to plan alternative routes for more than a month, while the city adapts to the logistical deployment of Barcelona spring's most emblematic sporting event.

Among the most eagerly awaited new features is the creation of a chill-out area next to court 4, designed to ease the usual congestion in the central square and the Fan Boulevard. This space will allow attendees to relax and enjoy the day away from the bustle, while visibility of the main court is improved after the removal of the restaurant room on the first floor.

19 April will mark a before and after in the history of the Godó: for the first time, the Rafa Nadal court will host a night match, accompanied by a special programme in the Fan Zone with music, food and entertainment. The evening will culminate in an exclusive dinner for sponsors, joining the club members' traditional soirée.

Safety also takes a step forward in this edition. Evacuation exits and emergency staircases are being increased, especially from the masia towards the Fan Boulevard. In addition, fire protection in the restaurant tent is reinforced and automatic extinguishing systems are installed in storage areas and electrical panels.

In sporting terms, anticipation is growing with the confirmation of three players from the world's top 10, including Carlos Alcaraz, who heads the line-up. Félix Auger-Aliassime and Álex de Miñaur will also take to Barcelona's clay courts, ensuring high-voltage match-ups for an edition already being announced as unforgettable.

Real Club de Tenis Barcelona 1899, the historic home of the Godó, is much more than a sporting venue. Founded at the end of the 19th century, it has witnessed the evolution of tennis in the city and been a meeting point for generations of Barcelona residents. Its location in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district makes it a privileged enclave, where tradition and modernity come together every spring to host one of the most prestigious tournaments on the international circuit.
