Móstoles Hospital becomes a regional benchmark with 55 certified services
Móstoles University Hospital has become the hospital centre in the Community of Madrid with the most certified services and units. A total of 55 areas have passed the new quality audit, a recognition covering healthcare as well as central and management services.
The assessment was carried out by the Agency for Quality and Environmental Certification. The process reviewed protocols, internal organisation and the systems used to guarantee safe care and maintain continuous improvement in the centre’s operation.
The hospital thus retains ISO 9001 certification for quality management and ISO 14001 certification for environmental management. These standards analyse aspects such as service planning, incident monitoring, patient safety and control of the environmental impact of healthcare activity.
The recertification also includes the Centro de Especialidades Médicas Coronel de Palma. In this way, the guarantees assessed extend to another of the main care points for residents of Móstoles and nearby municipalities.
Having 55 certified units does not mean merely passing an audit. Teams must periodically review their procedures, identify possible shortcomings and apply improvements that can subsequently be checked through specific indicators.
Sustainability also occupies an important place in this model. Waste control, resource consumption and reducing environmental impact form part of management that is especially complex in buildings that operate 24 hours a day and care for thousands of patients.
The recognition coincides with the twentieth anniversary of the certification system implemented at the hospital. Over these two decades, the number of assessed areas has grown to cover virtually every care and administrative area of the centre.
For patients, the real effect should be felt in more coordinated, safer and more predictable care. The audit result reinforces the role of Hospital Universitario de Móstoles as one of the leading healthcare references in the south of the region.
