The Arab Garden at Juan Carlos I reopens after renovation with new spaces to stroll
Madrid welcomes back one of its most special spots for a walk. The Arab Garden at Parque Juan Carlos I has reopened after months of work, featuring more greenery, new areas, and an atmosphere designed for unwinding without leaving the city.
The renovation has completely transformed the space. More than 300 new trees have been planted, including cypresses, orange trees and other species, alongside more than 2,000 shrubs such as rose bushes and jasmine that bring colour and fragrance back to the route.
The change is not only visual. The irrigation system, lighting and structural elements, such as low walls and paving, have also been renewed, while respecting the garden’s original design and improving its everyday use.
One of the key points has been the restoration of the central fountain and the interior paths. The space now once again works as a place for leisurely walks, with more shade, corners and a sense of refuge within the city.
The garden, badly affected by the Filomena storm, thus regains its role within the park as one of its best-kept and most distinctive spaces. The intervention reinforces the idea of a city with more useful, better-maintained green areas for everyday life.
