Barcelona Metro will operate for 43 consecutive hours on New Year’s Eve to support celebrations

Barcelona is preparing for an unprecedented New Year's Eve for mobility: Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) has confirmed that the metro will run uninterruptedly for 43 hours, from 5:00 on Wednesday 31 December until midnight on Thursday 1 January. This measure aims to facilitate travel and avoid car use on one of the busiest nights of the year.

During this special period, trains on the metro's eight lines will run through the network's 165 stations without interruption. Between 21:00 and 2:00, lines 1 and 3 will run at frequencies of under four minutes, line 5 at under six minutes, line 2 every six and a half minutes, and line 4 at under seven minutes. From 2:00 to 5:00, lines 1, 4 and 5 will maintain intervals of under ten minutes, while lines 2 and 3 will run at around eleven-minute intervals.

The night's main event will be the celebration on Reina Maria Cristina avenue, which this year will feature fireworks, music, drones and the anticipated return of the Fuente Mágica de Montjuïc. To get there, TMB recommends using Espanya station (L1 and L3), the closest, as well as Hostafrancs (L1), Tarragona (L3), Rocafort (L1) and Poble-sec (L3). A large influx of people is expected, so staff will be present at the stations to regulate passenger flow.

In addition, from 19:00, several bus lines (13, 23, 150 and X3) will alter their routes in the area, and from 20:00, lines D20, H12, H16, 46, 65, 91, 109 and X2 will also be affected. TMB recommends planning journeys and choosing the metro to enjoy Barcelona's New Year's Eve without setbacks.
