Barcelona Metro becomes a global art gallery with more than 1,000 artists
Amid the everyday coming and going of metro passengers, the connecting corridor between L3 and L4 at Passeig de Gràcia station has ceased to be merely a place of passage. From 16 to 29 June 2025, that 180-metre underground section is transformed into a vibrant space thanks to The Art Tunnel project, which turns one of Barcelona’s busiest locations into a living art gallery.
More than 1,000 artists from 88 countries have filled the tunnel with colour, criticism, emotion and imagination. The proposal offers a unique sensory experience to the almost 400,000 users who will pass through the corridor during these two weeks, breaking the monotony of the daily journey.
The project celebrates cultural diversity and the power of art as a universal language. There are no tickets or timetables: all that is needed is to get off the train and be surprised. At every step, a different work; in every gaze, a new world. Barcelona, once again, confirms that creativity also travels underground.
