Barcelona City Hall's secret viewing point opens only for Santa Eulàlia

Barcelona is preparing for one of those opportunities that do not come round twice: the Mirador de Maria Aurèlia Capmany, in the very heart of the Ayuntamiento, will open its doors to the public only during the Santa Eulàlia festivities. On Saturday 14 February, from 10:00 to 20:00, anyone may access this normally closed space free of charge, as long as capacity allows. Access will be exclusively via Sant Miquel Square, adding a touch of exclusivity to the experience.

The Novíssim building of the Ayuntamiento, one of the least-known corners of Sant Miquel Square, hides this viewpoint at its highest point. From there, the views over Ciutat Vella surprise even those who believe they know every corner of the centre. The opening coincides with Santa Eulàlia week, when the city fills with free activities and opens institutional spaces that usually remain closed.

The day is not limited to the viewpoint. The Ayuntamiento will allow visitors to tour other emblematic spaces such as the Escala Negra, the Saló de les Cròniques, the Capella del Bon Consell, the Sala Tàpies, the Saló del Bon Govern, the Sala del Treball, the Despatx del Alcalde, the Saló de Plens Carles Pi i Sunyer, the Saló de Cent, the Saló del Consolat de Mar, the Despatx d'Honor de l'Alcalde, the Saló de Carles III, the Saló de la Ciutat, the Galeria Gòtica and the Escala d’Honor. A journey through municipal history and architecture, available only on special dates.

For those seeking a more personalised experience, the Ayuntamiento is organising guided historical visits to the Saló de les Cròniques and the Saló de Cent, with sign-language interpretation. These visits will take place from 10:30 to 13:30 and from 16:00 to 19:00, allowing visitors to discover details and anecdotes about these distinctive spaces.
