Shfir's mural in Alcalá de Henares competes to be the world's best

The mural created by urban artist Shfir to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Alcalá de Henares Fire Station has been selected as a finalist in the Best Mural of the World 2025 competition. The work, which adorns the northern façade of the station's training tower, has ranked among the world's 50 best according to the Street Art Cities platform.

The piece depicts a firefighter from the Community of Madrid holding a hose from which water flows, in a clear tribute to the work and dedication of these professionals. The regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, had already highlighted the importance of this recognition in her New Year's message.

The competition, promoted by Street Art Cities, brings together fans and experts in urban art who select the most outstanding murals internationally. Of a hundred pre-selected works, only fifty have reached the final stage, where the public can vote until 31 January.

The nomination not only highlights the mural's artistic value, but also projects the image of Alcalá de Henares and Shfir's work globally.
