Madrid mural “Persigue tu estrella” has made the top 10 of the world's best street artworks in 2025
In Moratalaz, an ordinary school wall has suddenly become a landmark on the global street-art map.
In the neighbourhood of Moratalaz, a Madrid mural has achieved international fame: the work “Persigue tu estrella” has entered the top 10 of the best urban murals on the planet according to the Street Art Cities platform.
The project by artist Leyre Pérez Velasco took tenth place in the Best Mural of the World 2025 ranking, compiled through an international online vote. The 180 m² mural decorates the façade of an educational centre and stands out not only for its composition featuring a lynx and a butterfly, but also for its use of augmented reality: the image “comes to life” in 3D when scanned with a smartphone.
The work is part of the Muraltalaz project, which is transforming Moratalaz into an open-air gallery and bringing contemporary art beyond central Madrid. The mural’s international recognition confirms that neighbourhoods can also become centres of cultural attention on a global scale.
