Madrid Wax Museum turns its afternoons into a creative family plan

The workshops will take place from 16:00 to 19:00 in the Sala de los Espejos, which during those hours will be transformed into a space for crafts, play and imagination. The activity is designed so that younger children can create their own pieces after visiting the museum's rooms.

The initiative, called Talleres Cerakids, will be included in the general admission ticket and will not entail an additional cost. Families will thus be able to combine a visit to the figures from film, sport, music or history with a more hands-on activity.

The tour retains its usual stops, but adds a final part in which children cease to be mere spectators. Materials, colours and craft activities seek to extend the experience and turn the afternoon into more than a succession of photographs.

The chosen time slot also makes it easier to fit the plan in after lunch and before evening falls. For many families staying in Madrid during the summer, it can serve as an alternative to parks or outdoor activities during the hottest hours.

The Museo de Cera is on Paseo de Recoletos, near Colón and well connected by Metro and bus. Its location makes it possible to complete the outing with a walk through the centre, although the workshops are presented as the main attraction for children.

The programme reinforces an increasingly common trend in museums and cultural spaces: adding activities that allow people to touch, experiment and take part. In this case, the proposal seeks to ensure that children leave with a creation of their own and not merely a photograph next to their favourite characters.

The scene leaves a Sala de los Espejos unlike the usual one, with tables, materials and families sharing an activity. Every Wednesday, the museum exchanges part of its contemplative tour for an afternoon of creative indoor play.
