The Museu d’Autòmats del Tibidabo opens free of charge on the first Sunday of every month
From 4 May, every first Sunday of the month will be a date with the magic of the past at Tibidabo.
The Museu d’Autòmats, a hidden gem in the heart of the mountain, will open its doors free of charge, with no reservations or tickets required, inviting visitors to rediscover the charm of mechanics turned into art.
Located in an old theatre hall overlooking Barcelona, this museum brings together more than 40 automata, models and games from the 19th and 20th centuries that seem to have stopped time. From the endearing Pallasso Mandolinista of 1880 to the astonishing Germans Gaüs, finalists at a world exhibition in Japan, each figure tells a story through its own movement.
More than a collection, it is an experience that blends nostalgia, curiosity and handcrafted beauty. Figures such as La Monyos, inspired by a popular Barcelona character, or Els equilibristes, who defy gravity, make the visit a unique journey between the playful and the poetic.
With this initiative, Tibidabo not only celebrates its legacy, but also invites all generations to connect with a world where imagination was turned by a crank.
