The new Parc de les Glòries opens on 26 April with a major public celebration
Barcelona gains a new green lung. Next Saturday, 26 April, Parc de les Glòries will officially open, a large space designed for rest, play, community life and contact with nature in the heart of the city.
After years of work, the park is presented as a new meeting point for residents and visitors, with 9 hectares of surface area, 30,000 m² of green spaces, more than 1,000 trees and areas designed for all audiences.
The opening day will be experienced as a large family celebration between 10:30 and 18:00, with concerts, shows, workshops, games and activities for children and adults. Music will take centre stage on the two main stages: the Umbracle, with performances by groups such as Ambauka and the tribute to Gato Pérez, and the Àgora Berta Cáceres, with storytelling and puppets.
There will also be giant games, an escape street, an inclusive games area and a photographic exhibition tracing the transformation of Glòries over the years.
The new Parc de les Glòries is much more than a park: it is a symbol of a green, open, participatory city designed for the future. From 26 April, Barcelona unveils a space to live, share and discover.
