The new Superman flies with Catalan elegance
On the big screen, every detail counts. And in the new version of Superman, the iconic superhero does not only save the world: he also dresses in high-flying design.
Its red cape, an eternal symbol of power and justice, is made from a fabric created by the Catalan firm Gratacós, one of the most prestigious textile houses on the international scene.
It is the Ebro model, an intense red crêpe with an impeccable drape, made in the workshops the firm has in Como, Italy. It is one of the most sought-after fabrics in the Gratacós catalogue — more than 400,000 metres are sold each year — and it now brings to life the cape of the Superman played by David Corenswet, in a production directed by James Gunn.
Gratacós, founded in Barcelona in 1940, has known how to reinvent itself without losing its essence. From its discreet headquarters on a street in the Gràcia district, it launches its own collections, dresses firms such as Balmain and Carolina Herrera, and dazzles in Hollywood and Broadway. Its fabrics have appeared in series such as Bridgerton and have been worn by celebrities such as Queen Letizia and Kate Middleton.
