The Royal Palace revives the Baroque with forgotten women composers and unique tributes

The 2026 Musical Season of Patrimonio Nacional has begun at the Royal Palace of Madrid with an event that breaks the mould: the group Le Chant des Muses has recovered unpublished works by Baroque women composers, bringing back to life pieces never previously performed in public.

On 18 March, the Royal Palace Chapel will witness this musical journey into the past, the result of intense historical research. The cycle, which runs until June, will fill not only the Royal Palace but also other emblematic Royal Sites with music.

The programme includes two high-profile tributes: on 25 June, Cuarteto Turina will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Manuel de Falla by playing the legendary Palatine Stradivarius Quartet from the Royal Collections. Before that, on 21 May, soprano Eugenia Boix and Pérgamo Ensemble will pay tribute to Giacomo Facco on the 350th anniversary of his birth.

From March, regular cycles such as Música en las Reales Capillas 2026 will bring choirs and children’s choirs to historic churches: Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales, Santa Isabel and San Lorenzo de El Escorial, with performances on the 5th, 20th and 28th.

The 19th Organ Cycle begins on 25 March in the Royal Palace Chapel, with Miquel González and Olga Farrando. On 4 June, Francisco Javier Jiménez, Basilio Gomarín and Miguel Ulla will take over with organ, Baroque trumpet and countertenor.

On 26 March, Galería de las Colecciones Reales will host a piano concert by Marta Espinós, inspired by the ‘Victoria Eugenia’ exhibition. In April, the Palatine Stradivarius Quartet will return to the stage with new proposals.

The Royal Guard Music Unit will lead the 38th Spring Music Cycle on 16 and 23 May and 6 June, with concerts at the Puerta del Príncipe of the Royal Palace, in the heart of Plaza de Oriente. The season promises emotions and surprises at every event.
