Pope Leo XIV prepares a historic visit to Madrid in June 2026

Pope Leo XIV will visit Madrid in June 2026, according to the first official draft presented by the Vatican. The Spanish capital will be one of the key points on his tour of Spain, which also includes Barcelona and the Canary Islands.

The Holy See has indicated that the Pontiff’s stay in Madrid will run from 6 to 9 June, although the final schedule is still pending confirmation. During those days, the Pope will meet the faithful and visit emblematic places in the Archdiocese of Madrid.

Among the planned events is a visit to the Palace of La Zarzuela, where he will greet the King and Queen. In addition, a large vigil will be organised at Santiago Bernabéu stadium and a meeting will be held with the Bishops of Spain before he continues his journey to Barcelona and the Canary Islands.

On 7 June, coinciding with the solemnity of Corpus Christi and Charity Day, a major Eucharist is expected in the heart of Madrid. Anticipation is growing as new details of the papal agenda become known.
