The Spanish passport remains in the world’s top 3 in 2026 according to Henley

The new Henley Passport Index 2026 is here and confirms that the Spanish passport remains one of the most powerful on the planet. Singapore consolidates its place at the top, allowing its citizens to travel visa-free to 192 countries, a figure out of reach for the rest.

Japan and South Korea share second position, with visa-free access to 188 destinations. Japan improves its position compared with the last report, while South Korea maintains its strength in Asia.

Spain, alongside Luxembourg, Denmark, Switzerland and Sweden, occupies the coveted third place. Sweden has made a notable rise, climbing three positions since the previous report. The Spanish passport therefore continues to open doors around the world.

Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway appear on the fourth tier, all with privileged access to numerous countries. Hungary, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and the United Arab Emirates rank fifth.

Further down, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Malta, New Zealand and Poland share sixth position. Australia, Latvia, Liechtenstein and the United Kingdom are in seventh place, while Canada, Iceland and Lithuania occupy eighth.

Malaysia takes ninth place. The United States, after falling outside the top 10 in October, regains ground and stands alone in tenth position. However, the “America First” policy could tighten border controls even further in the future.
