Port Olímpic transforms with Pérez Siquier photography and live jazz

Port Olímpic de Barcelona is becoming a meeting point these days for people looking for different cultural plans. Carlos Pérez Siquier’s free exhibition at Moll de Gregal offers a unique opportunity to rediscover the city through images that capture the essence of another era, impossible to find in present-day Barcelona.

Until 15 June, visitors can immerse themselves in the vision of one of the most influential photographers from southern Spain. His works, which will soon arrive at the KBr photography centre, are displayed outdoors and accompanied by a music programme that transforms the seafront promenade into a vibrant stage. The jazz concerts, organised together with the Conservatori Liceu, bring the port to life and turn every visit into a multisensory experience.

The KBr Live series begins on Saturday 28 February at 12:30 with the first concert by young musicians from the Conservatori. Over the following weeks, music will continue to play with performances linked to the exhibition Walker Evans. Now and Then, which will also arrive in the city soon. In addition, families with children aged between 7 and 12 can take part in free workshops on Saturday mornings, where younger children explore the language of photography in a practical and fun way.

The exhibition traces Pérez Siquier’s artistic evolution, from his beginnings in black and white to his use of colour, always with an ironic gaze close to everyday life. His modern, poetic images invite reflection on social changes in Spain and the discovery of beauty in the everyday.

Port Olímpic, traditionally associated with nightlife and dining, is reinventing itself with cultural proposals that seek to attract a diverse audience. This exhibition and its parallel activities reinforce the port’s commitment to becoming a space open to creativity and coexistence, where photography and music engage in dialogue with the urban landscape and the sea.

The KBr photography centre, promoted by Fundación Mapfre, has established itself in recent years as one of Barcelona’s leading photography references. Its programme combines major international names with proposals that explore the visual memory of the city and the country. The KBr Live series, which brings photography to new audiences through concerts and workshops, has succeeded in energising the local cultural scene and turning art into a shared experience for all ages.
