R4 services resume following a fire between Cerdanyola and Sabadell Sud

The alert came shortly after 12:00, when the Bombers were alerted to a fire in an area of reeds and scrub close to the railway infrastructure. For safety reasons, it was requested that train traffic be stopped on the affected section.

Renfe suspended service between Cerdanyola del Vallès and Sabadell Sud while emergency teams worked in the area. The priority was to avoid risks to passengers and to the personnel working beside the tracks.

The Bombers deployed nine crews to bring the fire under control. The rapid intervention made it possible to stabilise the situation quickly and prevent the disruption from lasting for more hours on a particularly busy line.

Traffic resumed at around 13:15, once the emergency services gave the green light to restore train movements. From that point, service gradually returned to normal.

The closure affected a sensitive period for many users, with work journeys, errands and metropolitan connections under way. On lines such as the R4, a brief interruption can force people to reorganise journeys, miss connections or seek last-minute alternatives.

The incident also recalls the vulnerability of the rail network to fires near the tracks, especially on days of heat and dry vegetation. Although the fire did not cause a long interruption, it was enough to disrupt mobility between several municipalities in Vallès.
