The return of municipal swimming pools is one of the most eagerly awaited moments for those looking to cool off without leaving the city. This year, the season starts on 15 May, coinciding with the San Isidro festivities, and will run until 7 September. The opening of 25 facilities spread across the capital will allow thousands of Madrid residents to organise weekend plans, family afternoons or get-togethers with friends without depending on a car or long getaways.
Access to municipal swimming pools retains the session system: morning (from 10:00 to 15:00), afternoon (from 16:00 to 21:00) and full day (from 10:00 to 21:00). Prices remain affordable: €1.35 for children aged 5 to 14, €1.80 for young people aged 15 to 26, €2.25 for adults aged 27 to 64 and €0.70 for over-65s, for morning or afternoon sessions. For those who prefer to spend the whole day there, the rates are €2.70, €3.60, €4.50 and €1.35 respectively. Children under 5 go free in any session, making family plans easier.
Among the most popular options are the Centros Deportivos Municipales de Aluche, Casa de Campo, Concepción, El Quijote, Entrevías, Moratalaz, Moscardó and Orcasitas.
