Madrid Children's and Young People's Book Fair returns with free workshops and exhibitions

Salón del Libro Infantil y Juvenil de Madrid is holding its 49th edition at Imprenta Municipal-Artes del Libro, consolidating itself as an unmissable event for families and young readers. The event, which runs until 11 January 2026, offers a programme packed with free activities, creative workshops and exhibitions dedicated to children’s and young adult literature.

Under the motto ‘Libros conciencia’, the fair brings together authors, publishers and young readers in a space where imagination and culture take centre stage. Visitors can explore a library with nearly 1,000 titles, attend exhibitions on leading illustrators and writers, and take part in tributes such as the one dedicated to Hans Christian Andersen.

Among the most attractive proposals are the exhibition ‘Visionarias’ by Mercedes Palacios, exhibitions on Premios Lazarillo and Premios Nacionales de Ilustración y Narrativa, as well as family radio workshops and activities inspired by ‘El Principito’.

The programme also includes shows such as ‘Erwin, el gato cuántico’ and meetings with authors in schools in the district. The fair opens Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00, inviting children and young people to immerse themselves in the world of books during the Christmas season.
