Sant Jordi Club is reborn as the new epicentre of live music in Montjuïc
Barcelona fires the starting gun on the renewal of the Anella Olímpica with the transformation of Sant Jordi Club into an auditorium unique in Spain, designed from scratch for live music.
With an area set to grow to 16,500 m², this space will allow flexible capacities of between 3,500 and 9,000 spectators, meeting a demand that until now did not exist in the city.
The project, with investment of 70 million euros funded entirely by BSM, will be delivered through an international architectural competition. The intention is to create a venue with impeccable acoustics, maximum comfort, sustainability and adaptability, designed for audiences as well as artists and technical teams.
This intervention forms part of the ambitious “Nou Montjuïc” plan, led by the City Council and its mayor Jaume Collboni, which seeks to turn this emblematic area into a green and cultural lung open to everyone. After attendance records in recent years, the Anella Olímpica is preparing to consolidate itself as a global reference point for major events, with a cultural offering that prioritises the local public, which represents more than 80% of attendees.
Thus, Sant Jordi Club will not only expand the city's ability to host concerts, but will redefine the music experience in Barcelona, placing the Catalan capital at the international forefront of live music.
