Storm Harry has caused serious damage in Badalona and Barcelona, leaving Badalona’s seafront promenade virtually destroyed. The northern area, in the Canyadó neighbourhood, which connects to Montgat, has been the worst affected, according to images shared by Tot Badalona with Metrópoli.

Badalona’s mayor, Xavier García Albiol, travelled to the area to assess the extent of the damage. He explained that the water has swept away the promenade, leaving it completely unusable. Despite the scale of the disaster, no injuries or fatalities have been recorded.

The City Council has activated a special operation to signpost and cordon off the damaged area, banning public access to guarantee safety. In addition, concern extends to railway infrastructure, as the sea has damaged the base of Adif’s safety zone.

The mayor stressed the urgency of immediate intervention and recalled that responsibility for the affected area lies with the State. During the day, municipal officials will inspect the damage to assess the next steps.
