EMT and Bicimad free in Madrid on 8 and 9 January: free transport returns

Madrid City Council has announced that EMT buses and the Bicimad electric bicycle service will be free for two days, on 8 and 9 January. This measure coincides with the return to school after the Christmas holidays and aims to make it easier to get around the city.
During these 48 hours, users will be able to travel on EMT buses at no cost from 00:00 on Monday 8 January until 23:59 on Tuesday 9 January. The only exception will be the Exprés Aeropuerto route, which is not included in the free travel offer.
To use the service, passengers must validate their usual travel ticket or pass. Those who do not have one will receive a free single ticket directly from the driver.
Bicimad is also joining the initiative: all journeys of up to 30 minutes will be free on the same dates. Residents and visitors alike will therefore be able to get around Madrid without worrying about the cost of public transport.
