Chamartín will create the “Science District” with CSIC, the Polytechnic University and the National Museum of Natural Sciences
Chamartín aims to bring together universities, museums and research centres in a single “Science District”, turning several Madrid streets into a territory of ideas and experiments.
The new urban space will bring together some of the main research and education centres in the capital.
The project will cover the area between Paseo de la Castellana and the streets Joaquín Costa, López de Hoyos y María de Molina, where the CSIC, Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales, Universidad Politécnica and Residencia de Estudiantes are already located. The aim is to create an environment for collaboration, science outreach and technological initiatives.
In addition to the renovation of public spaces, there are plans for conferences, guided tours and educational programmes in the STEAM format. The project will be presented on 18 February.
