The VIII Concurso de Belenes Navideños has begun in Madrid's public healthcare centres
The VIII Concurso de Belenes Navideños in Madrid's healthcare centres transforms the usual hospital corridors into places where creativity quietly mingles with the magic of Christmas.
The Comunidad de Madrid has opened the registration period for the eighth edition of this annual creative initiative: the competition for Christmas nativity scenes installed in the region's hospitals, health centres and emergency services. All facilities in the public health system may take part, including SUMMA 112, primary-care centres and major hospitals.
The competition is divided into two categories: one for primary care, addiction services and the central units of the Consejería de Sanidad, and another for Madrid hospitals and their research centres.
The traditional trophy for the winners, ‘Misterio Salud Madrid’, will be presented in a festive atmosphere. Every year it is created by patients at Hospital José Germain: they combine metal and wood to make a miniature of the Holy Family and a star symbolising the Servicio Madrileño de Salud.
