Access to parks in Madrid has been temporarily restricted due to the risk to trees
In Madrid, access to Retiro and other parks has been restricted for several hours due to the risk of damage to trees.
On Monday night, the Ayuntamiento de Madrid imposed temporary restrictions on visiting the Retiro and eight other historic parks in the city. The measures were in effect from 18:00 to 21:00 and are related to conditions that could affect the stability of the trees.
Municipal services have moved to increased monitoring of green areas. The restrictions aim to reduce the risk of falling branches and protect both visitors and the trees themselves, especially in parks with high footfall and ageing trees.
Once the period of highest risk is over, access to the parks will return to normal.
