Between 2025 and 2028, the new framework guarantees pay improvements, generational renewal and greater internal stability.
The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has approved a new agreement that will redefine the working conditions of the regional Fire Brigade for the next three years. With unanimous backing from all unions at the Sectoral Committee, the pact includes pay improvements, staff reinforcements and a clear commitment to generational renewal.
With more than 1,700 serving personnel, the Cuerpo de Bomberos de Madrid is one of the largest fire services in the country. To ensure its ability to respond, the agreement provides for annual public recruitment rounds to replace retiring staff and staff new fire stations. One notable element is the voluntary transition to operational support duties from the age of 62 in 2028, which will allow the experience of veteran staff to be retained without compromising their safety.
On pay, the post-related and specific allowances are being updated according to rank, with effect from January 2026. Compensation for additional duties is also being improved, and incentives linked to physical performance, training and participation in specialist units such as the Grupo de Rescate en Altura or the Grupo de Drones are being introduced.
The text also incorporates a regulatory framework for strategic projects and provides guarantees in essential areas such as annual leave, continuing training, occupational health, internal mobility and insurance adapted to future regulations. The agreement will come into force following its publication in the Boletín Oficial de la Comunidad de Madrid and represents a key step towards a more modern, professional and well-protected service.
